The frequency of sessions can vary by patient. The variables that affect the frequency include the patient's availability, what is recommended by the prescriber based on severity of symptoms, and availability and recommendation of the therapist for scheduling the integration sessions in between the dosing sessions. All Journey Clinical therapists hold an integration session between each dosing session.
In general, you may expect most clients to participate in KAP dosing sessions once every 2 weeks, with integration sessions in between. Your patient's clinician will make specific recommendations on dosing session frequency in their clinical visit notes, visible to you in your Portal.
The first two dosing sessions are ultimately meant to get clients accustomed to the medicine and experience, and to ensure that the dosing is appropriate. During the initial evaluation with a Journey Clinical clinician, an eligible patient can get 2 doses, and will schedule their follow up appointment for approximately 30 days later. At the follow up, a patient can be prescribed enough for an additional 4-6 dosing sessions at a time. If a patient chooses to discontinue KAP, we still require this follow up to be held as a discharge session.
How many dosing sessions do my clients need to do?
Your clients will complete at least 6-8 sessions within a regular cadence. Click here for the science behind 6-8 dosing sessions. After 6-8 sessions, some people may choose to space treatment out for maintenance dosing (once every 1-2 months), whereas others may elect to continue regular treatments to deepen and improve the effects of the first round of dosing. Ongoing KAP treatment is personalized, so you will work with your client and prescriber to determine their independent plan of care.
Please keep in mind: at Journey Clinical we prescribe two doses upfront so that the patient can come back for a follow up and adjust their dosing as needed for the following ~6 doses. 6-8 dosing sessions is the standard, research-backed treatment that we offer, and it is important for your clients safety and wellbeing to ensure clients return for a follow up after your second KAP session together.
How to document your dosing sessions
Please note that all KAP dosing sessions need to be documented by you in the Portal prior to follow ups so that the medical team can review the dosing, vitals, and any updates from your notes while collaborating to form an ongoing plan of care.
